Robertson spent the majority of last season in the American Hockey League. The defenceman skated in 60 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack. Robertson scored one goal and added 24 assists for a total of 25 points. These totals were AHL career-highs in assists and points. Furthermore, Robertson led Wolf Pack defencemen in both categories.

After a strong season in the AHL, Robertson was awarded with his NHL debut on April 14. The Edmonton native skated in two NHL games with a Rangers team who failed to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs despite preseason expectations.

Rangers Seeking Next Chapter

Robertson, a second-round pick in 2019, may be in for an extended role with the Rangers next season. After a strong AHL season, the Rangers may want to see what Robertson can do for the team in a large role. After the departure of players such as Chris Kreider, the Rangers are ready to turn to the next chapter and will look to contend soon. Do not forget, the Blueshirts are just one season removed from the Eastern Conference Final.

What Robertson Can Provide for the Blueshirts

Offensively, Robertson is a strong good passer. He can start the rush from his own end, setting up scoring chances on the transition. This strong passing game also helps him captain power plays.

Defensively, Robertson is not afraid to use his body to make plays. He will use his body to check players off the puck. Furthermore, he is not afraid to get in the shooting lane to block shots.

Overall, Robertson can help the Rangers on both sides of the ice. The young defenceman has the potential to be a productive player in the Big Apple.
