After every game day, we will break down one shining moment from New England’s latest matchup.
Welcome to One Shining Moment, where we take a look at the best moment for the New England Revolution in their most recent game and give the readers a breakdown.
So what was the One Shining Moment for the Revs in their 1-0 victory over Atlanta United? No, it wasn’t the fact that Gabriel Heinze is no longer managing Atlanta. It also wasn’t Brad Knighton actually making some saves.
Let’s take a look at the lone goal for New England down in the dome.
One Shining Moment in New England’s 1-0 victory over the Atlanta United: Adam Buksa defies logic
We join the play with Maciel receiving the ball from Carles Gil. The Brazilian moves swiftly and finds a charging Wilfrid Kaptoum who is bolting down the right flank.
“Kap” has Adam Buksa and Gustavo Bou storming towards the center of the field. As you can see there is plenty of space for the strikers to operate which will cause some problems. As the ad board says, someone is about to be hurt in Georgia.
Kaptoum makes his way down the right side and sends a ball into the box. Buksa gets forward first and seems to be the best option for the midfielder. The Polish striker knows how to get up in the air so it’s a smart decision from Kaptoum.
Buksa does a disappearing act and falls to the ground. The play has the chance to fall apart but somehow the striker makes magic happen.
Buksa manages to not touch the ball with his hand and still maintain possession of the ball. He then gets up and is able to get the ball to Bou.
Bou is in a very advantageous position. With the scoring streak that he has been on he isn’t going to let this opportunity go to waste.
And that’s exactly what Bou does. He advances towards goal and slams home his 7th goal of the season.
It’s a great team effort and it seems like Bruce Arena might have found his formation to get all three Designated Players on the field. Also, this play will always be remembered as the goal that ended Heinze’s career making it without a doubt the One Shining Moment from the game.
