Tuesday’s Red Sox-Blue Jays game postponed

They’ll play a doubleheader on Wednesday.

The Red Sox had a lot of momentum heading into what was supposed to be the second game of a four-game set to be played Tuesday night. They had just completed their second comeback in a row to start off the series, and were looking to clinch at least a split in the series with a win here tonight. Mother Nature had other ideas, and those goals will be put off for a little bit. After a delay that lasted a little under an hour, Tuesday’s game has been postponed. It will be made up as part of a day/night doubleheader on Wednesday, with the first game starting at 2:10 PM ET. Both games will be seven-inning contests.

Tickets for tonight’s game (7/27) will be good for admission to the rescheduled contest.

Fenway Park gates are expected to open 90 minutes before the 2:10 p.m. game (12:40 p.m.) and one hour before the regularly scheduled 7:10 p.m. game (6:10 p.m.).

Presumably, the pitching schedule will stay the same. Garrett Richards was set to make the start here on Tuesday, so he should start the first game of the doubleheader tomorrow. The nightcap should still be Tanner Houck. And with the team rolling with a six-man rotation at the moment, they can get through this without having to worry about their rotation being messed up.

Boston will also be able to call up another player for this game. Typically you would think that will be a reliever, but the only healthy pitcher on the 40-man not currently on the major-league roster is Connor Seabold, who is coming off his own injury. So with that, someone like Jonathan Araúz, Connor Wong, or Marcus Wilson could get the call instead. We’ll keep you updated on that front tomorrow before the first game.
