Nasty weather is rapidly approaching Target Field in Minneapolis!
A large complex of storms capable or producing high winds, frequent lightning, and torrential rain is approaching the Red Sox and Twins in Minneapolis as they try to complete the final few innings of Monday’s game. Here is the latest radar as of 10:00p ET.

With extreme instability flourishing ahead of this line of storms, a long delay seems likely. So add this craziness to an already crazy game. If anybody can take the lead, Mother Nature may be the best closer of all (I hear she has a career ERA of 0.00).
At the end of eight innings:
Heavy thunderstorms are surrounding Minneapolis like it’s a military operation to take over the city. Red Sox and Twins probably have about 15 minutes left before chaos ensues. pic.twitter.com/7CEVhIkKtB

Update: They did not make it!
The skies opened just after 10:35pm in the middle of the ninth inning right after the Red Sox took a 4-3 lead in the top of the frame.
Torrential rain, frequent lightning, high winds gusting up to 60mph, and even reports of hail around Minneapolis have occurred over the last 30 minutes. The heavy weather should last another 45 minutes, but it’s unclear what type of shape the field will be in when this monster clears out.
Per MLB rules, since the Red Sox scored in the top of the ninth inning, they can’t win the game if things don’t resume in the bottom of the ninth tonight because the Twins need to also have a chance at bat in the same inning the Sox scored to take the lead.
The question now is who pitches it? Jordan Hicks was warming up, but he might be unavailable after a long delay. The other possibility is the game finishes tomorrow and Garrett Whitlock or Aroldis Chapman suddenly become available to close things out after Cora tried to stay away from them tonight.
Baseball and weather continue to be wild!
Update Again: We have a resumption time set for 12:05 am ET (11:05pm local time in Minnesota). This game will finish tonight!
Postgame Update: OMG! WTF Jordan Hicks! You idiot!
