On this episode of the show, Keaton and I play doctor with this sickly team trying to diagnose the problems that are causing this lull. In order to do this we look back to the start of the putrid play on July 28th and analyze what has gone wrong between that date and now. We then put the patient under further examination to see if there were any signs of this fetid disease festering before hand that we should have spotted. Was this predictable even 30 days ago?
In order to complete a thorough examination we put the patient under the microscope in three key areas: inability to score with runners in scoring position, underperforming rotation, and exhaustion in the bullpen. We discuss how and if these problems can be solved or alleviated and if they can be fixed internally. Is the return of Chris Sale and the eventual debut of Kyle Schwarber the medicine this team needs? Will it be too little too late?
Our white coats are on so strap yourself in for an hour and twenty minute examination of our patient—the 2021 Red Sox. Our goal is to get the issues figured out and have the patient walking out the door stronger than ever for a deep playoff run.
