Red Sox vs. Rays lineups: Turning point?

MLB: Tampa Bay Rays at Boston Red Sox

The Sox have a great opportunity to make up ground against the Rays and get their season back on track.

Will this be the lineup that gets the Boston Red Sox back on track? After looking lethargic for quite some time, the Red Sox jumped on one of the best pitchers in the AL East, Hyun-jin Ryu Sunday afternoon. Regardless of the outcome, Sunday’s game was a step in the right direction for the Red Sox offense that went from dynamic to anemic seemingly out of nowhere.

For Tuesday’s series opener to kick off a big three-game set, the Rays will be rolling out former top prospect Luis Patiño as their starter on the mound. The righty will bring a heavy dose of fastballs and sliders. Fortunately, the middle of the order appear to be on their way back to dominance after a combined eight hits from Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinez on Sunday.

The Red Sox will have Eduardo Rodriguez on the mound, coming off of a strong start in Detroit. Rodriguez has had a rough season but is coming off that solid outing in which pitched five innings of shutout ball with two hits, 10 strikeouts and four walks.

With Alex Verdugo still on paternity leave, we will be getting a heavy dose of Jarren Duran, who hits second and is in center field tonight. Finally, it looks like Kevin Plawecki has earned some more playing time as he will be the designated hitter tonight, hitting sixth.

The rest of the lineups are below:
