Let’s hope so!
April showers bring May flowers, and May flowers bring a big league promotion for Roman Anthony. Right? That’s the old saying isn’t it? Pretty sure my grand pappy used to say that when he was bouncing me on his knee on Spring mornings of yore.
Anyway, we’ll see whether we get any Anthony in a Red Sox uniform in May, but we definitely got rain in April, as both Worcester and Portland were rained out yesterday. But both affiliates south of the Mason-Dixon got their games in.
Greenville, L 16-8

Yikes, that’s a rough outing from Jedixon Paez, who had only allowed two earned runs in nine innings entering this game. At least Miguel Bleis collected two hits for the second game in a row, while also stealing his third base of the year. Bleis’ stat line is ugly so far this season, but we’re only talking about 12 game so far. Plenty of time for him to rebuild his shiny prospect status.
Salem, L 6-5

Sure, not being able to see the ball actually exit the ballpark is pretty damn lame. But even with the low budget minor league camera work, you can see just how hard Freili Encarnacion hit this homer.

Between Encarnacion, Franklin Arias, and Antonio Anderson, Greenville has a nice little trio of hitters to keep an eye on this season. Anderson is now riding a five-game hitting streak.
