No rest for the weary as the Sox finish up their three game series in Detroit looking for a series win.
The Red Sox can shoo away a few more of recently arriving ghosts as they look to take the series against Detroit this afternoon behind Martín Pérez (1:10 p.m., NESN, MLBN out-of-network).
Pérez takes the mound in the same situation as yesterday’s starter Eduardo Rodriguez, in that he looks to bounce back from a brutal last start when the Sox arguably have needed it more than ever. He’ll go against electric but inconsistent rookie Tarik Skubal, who will be a ~problem~ for years to come but, like similarly skilled phenom Casey Mize, can be taken to school from time to time. The same is true of Pérez of course, but today is a day for happy thoughts.
Despite his home run yesterday, Jarren Duran is off against the lefty (I mean, he did go 1-5, I get it), and Christian Vázquez gets the day game after the night game off in favor of Kevin Plawecki. Just… just win today, guys. That’s all we ask.
