In honor of a 10 game winning streak heading into the All Star Break, here’s 10 notes about today’s game and the streak as a whole:
1. The last time the Red Sox had a 10 game winning streak was July 2-12 2018. The streak also originated with the Red Sox in Washington, DC on the 4th of July.
2. Trevor Story becomes the first Red Sox player to go into the Break with 15+ steals without being caught and 15+ home runs.
Trevor Story is the first Red Sox player ever to enter the All-Star break with 15+ HR and 15+ stolen bases without being caught stealing.

3. Roman Anthony hit a double today, extending his hitting streak to 9 games. He’s the youngest Red Sox player with a hitting streak of 9 games since Tony C in 1965.
4. Ceddanne Rafaela’s two-run shot in the 6th inning would only have been a home run at Fenway Park and Daikan Park (wincing because this is still Minute Maid Park forever to me).
5. Brayan Bello and Garrett Crochet both have thrown complete games in this streak. They become the first pair of Red Sox pitchers since 2005 to throw CGs in the same week, and there’s some pretty good company on that list.

6. Brayan Bello himself has eight straight starts going 5+ innings and 10 straight starts only giving up 3 earned runs or less.
7. The Red Sox are an MLB-best 23-10 since June 7th.
8. Aside from Hunter Dobbins’ injury shortened start, every Red Sox starting pitcher in this streak has gone at least 5.0 innings in their starts.
9. The 2025 Red Sox are one of only 4 team ever to head into the Break with a 10+ game winning streak.
From Red Sox media relations staff:
Per Elias, only three other teams have finished with a 10+ game win streak before the AS break:
SEA (14 G) in 2022
CIN (10 G) in 1975
DET (10 G) in 1935— Christopher Smith (@SmittyOnMLB) July 13, 2025
10. I’m having genuine fun as a Red Sox fan for the first time in a LONG time.
A lot of people (not naming names) poopoo’d the Red Sox sweeps of the Nationals and Rockies as bad teams and waited to see what was going to happen against a more competitive Tampa Bay Rays squad. Well, what do we have to say now?
Three Studs
Ceddanne Rafaela (1-for-3, 1 HR, 1 K)
I don’t know how this kid isn’t in Atlanta this week. His stats over the last two months have been nothing but otherworldly and he’s a crying shame he isn’t an All Star. Even when he can’t make a play, he makes a play.
Brayan Bello (6.1 IP, 6 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 5 K)
This version of Brayan Bello looks the most confident I’ve seen in his career. The fire and emotion when Cora pulled him from everyone on that mound shows how proud Bello should be right now.
Trevor Story (2-for-3, 1 R, 1 RBI)
A really great day for Story, an RBI single to give the Red Sox the lead and a stolen base before Ceddanne’s two-run blast. Still looking quite strong defensively. It’s hard not to be grateful for the year he’s had, even with the unfortunate injuries he’s suffered across all of his contract.
Two Duds
Masataka Yoshida (0-for-4)
Romy Gonzalez (0-for-3)
Honestly, just not these guys’ days. It happens. I don’t have much else bad to say.
Play of the Game
This is Ceddanne’s world and we’re just living in it. This time, it’s not a homer that stands out for me. His wherewithal to get the ball back into the infield like a rocket after trapping the ball with his body and Alex Bregman’s heads-up tag to nullify a run being scored felt like a momentum changer.
