OTM Open Thread 7/24: There’s good news and there’s bad news for these Red Sox

Are the Red Sox dope? Or are they just dopes?

We’ll start with the bad news because I generally I like to get the bad news out of the way first: The Boston Red Sox continue to lead the league in dumb baseball. On a road trip that’s already included Jarren Duran forgetting the count in Chicago and Carlos Narvaez committing catcher’s interference infractions in back to back games, last night featured this less costly, but still half-witted mental lapse from Rob Refsnyder.

What’s the good news you ask? Despite the unending barrage of boneheaded plays, these adorable dopes are just dumb enough to think they should win every game playing like this and still wholeheartedly believe in each other. No matter how many gut punches they take as consequences for their stupid baseball, they always pop right back up and keep fighting. Last night, that resiliency culminated in these euphoric moments:

The question now is if the baseball gods are seething or smiling when watching this team play. If they’re anything like us, it’s both.

Use this thread to talk about whatever you want for the day, and as always, be good to one another.
