Plus, Roman Anthony pulls Worcester ahead with a homer of his own.
With the “it’s so over” meter flying quickly toward “we’re so back” following two fantastic wins against the Mets, we should also enjoy the fact that Worcester has some magic brewing over at Polar Park. Let’s get right into it.
Worcester: W, 8-2 (BOX SCORE)

After a strong start to the season in Portland, Jhonstynxon Garcia started off his Triple-A campaign with a bang, or specifically, a crack. With a three run lead against Durham (Rays AAA), Garcia put this game over the edge to score Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer and make the score 8-2 in the bottom of the eighth. (For what it’s worth, Roman Anthony also got in on the long ball action, with his sixth homer of the year.) Garcia also scored earlier in the game after his first Triple-A hit. Brian Van Belle continues going seven innings strong, this time saddling the team with just one earned run, showing that he may be a formidable spot starter or multi-inning guy in Boston. After Walker Buehler’s short start yesterday due to an ejection and with both teams home on an extended stay (they’re away next week but only in Scranton), a move of this caliber may be how the team decides to navigate the week.
Portland: W, 4-3 (BOX SCORE)

Yordanny Monegro struck out ten Phils in five shutout innings and kept his ERA around 2, and the bullpen was effective enough to secure the W through a four-inning fourth from Portland. That fourth inning came saw Portland secure two of their three hits on the night including a Tyler Miller bases-clearing triple. Any time you can win after logging three hits, you gotta thank the pitching staff for doing its job and keeping guys on the base paths; this was indicative Tuesday as Reading stranded 11.
Greenville: PPD/Rain, Make-up today
It’ll be a late night in Bowling Green tonight, as a double-header gets under way at 6:30 PM. John Holobetz gets the ball for Game 1.
Salem: L, 9-11 (F/11) (BOX SCORE)

Eleven, by the way, was the theme of the night in Salem against Delmarva (Orioles A). Salem issued 11 walks, 11 runs on 11 hits, and this game went 11 innings before Diego Veloria walked a run in. This game had its fireworks; each team also scored three runs in the tenth inning after this game went to extras tied up at 6. Starlyn Nunez, the 19-year-old shortstop, had four hits, none as important in the tenth inning; when he scored on Frederik Jiminez’s home run in the tenth, it had a .474 WPA. Unfortunately, things would not hold, and Salem drops to 17-22.
Have a happy Wednesday!
