As if your head wasn’t spinning analyzing the young kids in the outfield enough.
Worcester: PPD, Rain (Make-Up Today)
Portland: W, 6-5 (BOX SCORE)

Noah Song came in and pitched a clean ninth to send this game to extras in Richmond (Giants AA), where the Sea Dogs pulled three runs ahead via twin singles by the Ehrhard brothers. Drew’s scored Zach, but Zach’s scored Manfred runner James Tibbs, making it the second consecutive game he was accounted for as the go-ahead run, even if he was solely on base for being the last out of the ninth. Noah Song would then give up two runs but NOT three, and the Sea Dogs won their third consecutive game, all by one run. The reverse 2025 Red Sox, if you will (last night non-withstanding.)
The Sea Dogs probably shouldn’t have won this, as they struck out sixteen times, blew an early 3-0 lead, Jacob Webb balked twice and the team hit 3-for-15 with runners in scoring position, but as I said yesterday, an ugly win is a win.
Greenville: W, 7-3 (BOX SCORE)

Joe Holobetz made it through almost six innings while keeping the ball in the park and without issuing a walk. Darvin Garcia then made it an extremely hairy situation with four walks while failing record an out. But Greenville had a ten-point turn gambit on how to get out of that inning after all, substituting Garcia with Danny Kirwin, and then saying “yeah, you know what, Danny, why don’t you stay in for the rest of the game?” In that time, Greenville pulled away from Hub City (Rangers High-A) with five runs across the seventh and eighth. This was thanks to a double by Miguel Bleis to start a rally and a Yophery Rodriguez single to score two. Will Turner then cleared the bases, and that was about all she wrote.
Salem: L, 3-6 (BOX SCORE)

This game against Charleston (Rays A) might have been a lost cause early due to a borderline start by Ben Hansen. But hey, Salem fought, even if they didn’t score a whole lot. Karim Ayubi now has three doubles in two games, and it’s apparently the likes of him, Starlyn Nunez and Natanael Yuten makin gup a group of guys with wheels not seen in any other level in the system besides the Major League squad. This one was over early, but if you were there, you may not have been able to feel it.
Have a great Thursday!
