Minor Lines 7/3: Cleanly swept at all levels

July 4, 2025 by Over the Monster

OTM Minor Lines

Enjoy your 4th.

The Red Sox minor league affiliates got waxed across the board on Thursday night. If these recaps seem half-hearted, it’s because I want to save you time to go enjoy your July 4th. And because I’m ready for a beverage.

Syracuse Mets 7, Worcester Red Sox 4 (BOX)

Tyler Uberstine got the start for Worcester and was hit fairly hard, with Syracuse’s main culprit being old friend Pablo Reyes. Reyes homered and doubled early in the game to knock in three runs, as the Mets led 5-1 after three innings.

The Woo Sox chipped away and cut the lead to 5-4 in the seventh, thanks to an RBI single and an RBI double from 1B Kristian Campbell in consecutive innings. Reliever Isaiah Campbell gave up a late home run to Drew Gilbert, his second of the night, which brought us to a final of 7-4 Mets.

At the plate, Nick Sogard had three hits and Tyler McDonough added two of his own. Masataka Yoshida played left field, going 1-for-3 with a fielder’s choice, a single to left field, and a pop-out to third base before being pinch-hit for.

Cooper Criswell (2-1, 2.27) threw in relief in Boston on Wednesday but is currently the listed starter on Friday for Worcester at 6:35.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7, Portland Sea Dogs 5 (BOX)

A back-and-forth affair for the entire night in Manchester did not go the Sea Dogs way. Portland out-hit the Fisher Cats (TOR) 12-to-6 in a loss, led by Mikey Romero and Drew Ehrhard with three hits a piece. James Tibbs and Allan Castro added two hits as well. Brooks Brannon hit his first Double-A home run to open the scoring in the second.

Dalton Rogers labored through four innings, walking six batters and striking out seven, with four runs allowed. Jorge Juan got the loss, allowing two runs in the seventh.

Portland has not yet listed a starter for their 6:20 game on Friday.

Asheville Tourists 3, Greenville Drive 2 (BOX)

Brandon Clarke continued to up his pitch count (45 pitches, 27 strikes) after returning from his month-long blister issue. Clarke continued to throw up zeroes on the scoreboard, striking out four Asheville batters (HOU) over 2 2/3 shutout innings. Shea Sprague got the loss, getting the bulk of the work (4 2/3 innings), but didn’t pitch poorly with two earned runs allowed and seven K’s.

Greenville’s runs came from two solo shots, courtesy of Hudson White (4) and Miguel Bleis (11). Bleis and Johanfran Garcia had two hits apiece.

Greenville’s starter is TBD for a Friday matchup at 6:35.

Lynchburg Hillcats 7, Salem Red Sox 1 (BOX)

Yhoiker Fajardo’s promotion from Complex League to Low-A has been a difficult transition. He was hit hard for the third straight outing on Thursday, allowing eight hits and six runs (five earned) over four innings against Lynchburg (CLE). Salem’s lone run came from a home run by catcher Kleyver Salazar (3) in the fifth inning. Salazar and Frederik Jimenez both had two hits on the day.

Salem will send Ben Hansen (1-2, 6.91) to the mound on Friday at 6:30.

Happy 4th. Go celebrate this glorious nation’s history.
