How to deal with the trade deadline

It’s never an easy time.

I personally think the post All-Star Break/pre trade-deadline part of the baseball season is the worst part. There’s a huge amount of uncertainty about what any given baseball team is going to do to improve their team, their farm system, or their finances. Everyone’s anxious and everyone creates roughly two hundred different hypotheticals regarding what trades will or won’t happen. It’s tense. You can’t deny that.

So here are some de-stressing activities to take your mind off the deadline!

  1. Do some yoga. This is known to be very relaxing.
  2. Do some other exercise. Exercise = endorphins = good feelings!
  3. Sleep until August 1st. Sleep is a great form of escapism.
  4. Pray to the baseball gods.
  5. Get ready for football season. It doesn’t start until September 4th, but that’s soon enough!
  6. Watch Red Sox postseason and World Series highlights. Always a good form of distraction.
  7. Watch the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction/Ceremony. It’s on Sunday July 27th at 1:30 p.m! Red Sox legend Billy Wagner will be among the honorees, joined by two other dudes named Ichiro Suzuki and C.C. Sabathia.
  8. Hate-watch the Yankees. They’re losing games really badly right now! Who knew the Red Sox would ever have a better bullpen than the Yankees?
  9. Dabble in Red Sox Twitter/X. That’s always fun! (Cough cough.)
  10. Spend time with the people you care about. It’s usually good decision.
  11. Ignore all of this and stay anxious about the trade deadline. Why should I be the one to tell you what to do?

Good luck! May the odds be in the Red Sox’s favor, and in yours, or something.
