It’s finally Lucas Giolito time.
Game 1 of the Sox/Blue Jays series was a Red Sox slugfest, but Game 2 has a lot of Sox fans anxious. At long last, Lucas Giolito is returning to the Majors after an extensive stint on the IL. He’s been injured for as long as the team has had him (since the beginning of the season last year), so nobody knows how he’s going to fare in his first start back, and in his first Major League start with the Sox. His final rehab start in Worcester was a mixed bag: He pitched four innings and struck out four, but he also allowed six walks (bad) and three runs on three hits.
Will he get his act together? Can the Sox offense back him up like they fully backed up Crochet yesterday? We can prepare for the worst, but we can also hope for the best. I’m not feeling optimistic, personally, but that’s the magic of baseball: Anything can happen.
