Can the Sox bounce back after losing in absurd fashion last night?
The Red Sox continue to battle through their toughest stretch of the schedule. Not only are they facing the Cubs, Phillies and Dodgers out of the All-Star Break, but they also got some unfortunate luck in the way Philly reshuffled their rotation.
Despite the first two games of this series being the fourth and fifth games back from the break, the Phillies are throwing their two best starters in these two games. Last night it was Zack Wheeler, and tonight it’s Christopher Sanchez, who has a 2.50 ERA in 19 starts this season.
Sanchez is left handed, which means the Red Sox platoon patrol is out in full force, with Rob Refsnyder leading off and Romy Gonzalez batting fourth. In fact, the only two starters who will bat left handed in the early innings for the Sox tonight are Roman Anthony and Masataka Yoshida.
Once again, Dick Fitts will have his work cut out for him.
