Rookie Mac Jones is getting ready to start under center for the New England Patriots. In what could be a daunting task, he has the support from several veterans in the organization. Wide receiver Kendrick Bourne is one of them.
Speaking to the media, the veteran indicated that the rookie knows a lot more than may meet the eye.
In addition to his knowledge, Bourne was impressed with how Jones handles pressure. For that, the wide receiver credits the quarterback’s days at Alabama. It is a skill that has translated to the NFL.
“Yeah, for anybody, you get named the starter, that’s a different kind of urgency,” Bourne said. “You can’t mess up. The only way is down. For any starter, I think you feel that pressure, but he was built for it since (Alabama). I think he’s more ready than anybody really knows.”
“Just what I’ve seen throughout camp and these last few days – he’s locked in. He’s poised. He seems ready for the moment,” Bourne said. “I’m excited to be a part of it.”
With the first game of the season getting closer, time will tell of Jones is truly ready to take center stage.
