Ty Law became the latest former New England Patriots player to wonder if the Bill Belichick era is ending.
Following Sunday’s 21-17 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders, former Pats linebacker Tedy Bruschi said on Get Up that he believes Belichick is considering stepping down after the season. The Hall of Fame cornerback didn’t disagree with his former teammate.
“If he wants to walk away, there might be something to that,” Law said on WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show. “When I’m looking at him on the sideline, he doesn’t look like he’s having a lot of fun. It’s no fun losing. You see everything about the body language and stuff. He’s a defensive guy. Those guys can’t stop a nosebleed if you gave them a whole year’s supply of Kleenex and cotton balls. They can’t stop s***.”

Law added that Belichick needs more talent in order to justify returning for a 25th season.
“He’s going to go down as the greatest of all time, but you don’t want to go out there and feel like that, look like that, coach like that if you don’t have no players,” he said. “Walk away and be great.”
Bruschi noted that Belichick is used to coaching “meaningful games” in the playoffs rather than chasing personal milestones. The 71-year-old is 30 regular-season wins away from passing Don Shula as the winningest head coach in NFL history.
Yet Belichick has added just one victory to that tally in 2023. The offense doesn’t have a passing touchdown in three straight losses.
Belichick will again try for career win No. 300 when New England plays the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
