One of Tom Brady’s sharpest jokes from last month’s Netflix roast came at Bill Belichick’s expense. The former New England Patriots quarterback referenced a moment that resurfaced this week.
Belichick, 72, is reportedly dating a 24-year-old woman. The Daily Mail claimed that past Ring camera footage of a shirtless Belichick leaving a Massachusetts home was taken from outside her house.
Brady’s dig at his old head coach appears to make more sense in hindsight.
“When somebody asked me which ring was my favorite, I used to say, ‘The next one,’” Brady said. “Now that I’m retired, my favorite is that Ring camera that caught Coach Belichick slinking out of that poor girl’s house at 6 a.m. a few months ago. Hey, you still got it. Respect.”
It’s unclear how much Brady knew about that situation at the time. The public certainly didn’t realize Belichick was leaving the home of a girlfriend born around the same time he began coaching the Patriots.
However, Rob Gronkowski also joked about Belichick’s unusual relationship. He quipped that Belichick was obsessed with Foxborough High School because he was “scouting your new girlfriend.”
Brady’s roast would have been far different had everyone else known about Belichick’s younger girlfriend at the time. What are the chances he would have even shown up if he knew Nikki Glaser, Jeff Ross, and every other comedian would be armored with pages of material about his personal life?
