Tom Brady reflected on Sunday’s return to Gillette Stadium.
The New England Patriots honored their legendary quarterback during Week 1’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. For the first time in years, Brady put on his No. 12 Pats jersey in front of a raucous Foxborough crowd.
On Monday, Brady shared photos of him taking in the special day with his three children. He also posted a photo displaying the six Lombardi Trophies he won during 20 years in New England.
“I’ve talked a lot about how lucky I feel to have spent my life surrounded by such incredible people. Yesterday was just another reminder of that,” Brady wrote on Instagram. “Coming back to New England to celebrate what WE accomplished was so special, and it’s a day that I’ll never forget. Being able to spend time with teammates, family, friends, coaches, and most importantly all the fans of Patriot nation is something that I’ll never take for granted.”
During Sunday’s halftime speech, Brady told the crowd he considered himself a “Patriot for life.” On Monday, the Patriots posted a video of him calling New England “the best organization this league has ever seen.”
“We won a whole lot of games up here… and believe it or not we had a whole lot of fun doing it,” Brady said on Instagram. “I’m so lucky to have been a New England Patriot. Foxboro Forever.”
Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced Sunday that he’ll waive the usual four-year waiting period for retired players to induct Brady into the Patriots Hall of Fame next year. The ceremony will take place on June 12 in honor of his Super Bowl titles and jersey number.
