The New England Patriots have been one of the teams that have been in a lot of trade rumors that surround wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
It makes perfect sense because it gives them a true top target at the position, which is something they haven’t had since Julian Edelman was with them.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like a trade is going to happen between the Patriots and Cardinals because of Hopkins’ history with Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien.
“It sounds like the history between Hopkins and new Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is an impediment to his landing in New England,” Graziano wrote on Thursday morning.
O’Brien was Hopkins’ head coach for six seasons down in Houston and the two never had a good relationship. Heck, Hopkins said it was one of the main reasons why he wanted out of Houston during the 2020 offseason.
If he gets traded, it’s likely to a team that doesn’t have a coach who he’s not a fan of.
