There Is A Heavy Favorite To Sign Running Back Dalvin Cook

July 29, 2023 by The Spun

By the looks of things, free agent running back Dalvin Cook has narrowed down his list of teams to just a few. But one of them appears to have the edge.

According to DraftKings Sportsbook via PFF Bet, there has been a massive odds shift recently. As of writing, the New York Jets are now favored to join the Jets at -400.

Cook is slated to visit the Jets sometime in the next few days.

The next highest odds go to the New England Patriots, who Cook is also scheduled to visit. But their odds are significantly higher at +425.

The New York Jets make sense for several reasons, not the least of which is that starting running back Breece Hall is currently on the PUP list after sustaining a torn ACL and meniscus last season.

But another reason is that the Jets recently got a massive cash infusion after restructuring the contract of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Jets now have the money they need to give Dalvin Cook a decent contract offer.

Of course, Cook could still join a team like the Patriots or even the Miami Dolphins if they wind up making a superior contract offer.

We may not find out for days or even a week what Cook’s final decision is.
