The Bengals Could Have A Quarterback Problem This Weekend

A little bit of roster gymnastics for the New England Patriots could have serious consequences for the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend.

Earlier today the Patriots signed quarterback Will Grier to their active roster off the Bengals’ practice squad. The move gives New England a third quarterback on the active roster ahead of their game against the Jets this weekend.

But Bengals insider Ben Baby noted that the move leaves the team with only one healthy quarterback amid the lingering ankle injury that starter Joe Burrow is dealing with. As of writing, Jake Browning is the Bengals’ only other quarterback.

Browning has one career passing attempt and will presumably be sent in if Burrow gets injured during their game on Monday against the Rams or gets the start if Burrow can’t play at all.

But what happens if something happens to Browning?

That means the Bengals are down to just one healthy QB — Jake Browning. Grier was on Cincinnati’s practice squad as the QB3. https://t.co/sMHFf2S4I6

The Cincinnati Bengals will likely find someone to add to either the practice squad or the active roster over the next two or three days but might be content to stay with just two if Joe Burrow shows improvement.

Should the Bengals prioritize adding a third quarterback right now? Or can it wait until the weekend pending Burrow’s fitness?
