T.J. Watt In Concussion Protocol Following Steelers’ Shocking Loss To Patriots

December 11, 2023 by The Spun

The hits just keep on coming for the Steelers. On Saturday morning, the franchise announced that All-Pro edge rusher T.J. Watt is in concussion protocol.

Watt reportedly experienced concussion-like symptoms on Friday morning before being placed in the protocol.

That’s obviously not ideal for the Steelers. To make matters worse, Alex Highsmith is also in concussion protocol at the moment.

The Steelers can’t really afford to have Watt and Highsmith inactive for next weekend’s game against the Colts. Both of them are huge difference-makers for Mike Tomlin’s defense.

Add another one: TJ Watt came in with symptoms yesterday morning and the #Steelers placed him in protocol, per @SteelersPRBurt. https://t.co/RGNr7FQeXv

Watt has been exceptional for the Steelers this season, racking up 52 tackles, 14 sacks and three forced fumbles in 13 games.

Highsmith, meanwhile, has 49 tackles, six sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception for the Steelers.

Luckily for Pittsburgh, it has an extended break before its Week 15 matchup. We’ll see if that extra time will allow Highsmith and Watt to clear protocol.
