If Tom Brady is going to sign a contract with an NFL team this offseason, it will probably last for a day.
On Thursday morning, Patriots owner Robert Kraft revealed that he wants to sign Brady to a ceremonial one-day contract.
“I’d do it tomorrow,” Kraft said, via Mike Dussault of Patriots.com. “Not only do I want it, our fans are clamoring for it and to us, he always has been and always will be a Patriot. . . . We’ll do everything we can in our power to bring him back, sign off as a Patriot and find ways to honor him for many years to come. He did so much to bring life and good cheer to our community and he’s a beloved figure and he’s earned the respect and love that people feel for him like no other athlete in our town and we’ve had some great ones.”
Kraft has always been so fond of Brady, and understandably so. The legendary quarterback won the Super Bowl six times in New England.
Even though Brady left the Patriots during the 2020 offseason, he’ll always be remembered for his time in Foxborough.
In 20 seasons with the Patriots, Brady established himself as the greatest quarterback of all time by throwing for 74,571 yards and 541 touchdowns. What he was able to accomplish on the Buccaneers was just the cherry on top.
Hopefully, Brady and the Patriots can reach a deal in the near future.
