Former New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski has been monitoring the ongoing situation involving his old team and its star pass rusher, Matthew Judon.
Judon, who turns 31 this month, is in the third year of a four-year, $54.5 million contract and has been participating on a very limited basis so far in training camp.
While Judon insists this is part of an agreed upon plan between himself and the Patriots, many seem to think he’s staging a “hold in” of sorts to protest his contract situation.
During a recent appearance on the “Dan & Ninko” podcast, Gronkowski expressed his disapproval with Judon and the Patriots for how the situation is being handled.
Gronkowski called what’s going on with Judon “one of the weirdest things” he’s ever heard.
“That’s silly. I don’t know. Just go hold out. You don’t want to get fined, but you’re asking for more money, but you don’t want to get fined? Well, if you’re asking for more money, then be a boss and ask them to cancel the fines out when you get a new deal or something. I don’t know. It’s a weird situation, it’s silly.”
“Matthew Judon holding out and not participating in drills at training camp is one of the weirdest things I’ve ever heard… Is Bill losing control? Idk.”

Gronkowski also questioned Belichick for allowing the Judon situation to unfold as it supposedly has.
“Bill letting that happen, that is weird,” Gronkowski said. “He always says, ‘You’re either all in, or you’re all out.’ Is he losing control or something? I don’t know.”
In his first two seasons with New England, Judon has registered 120 total tackles and 28 sacks.
