The New England Patriots haven’t quite hit rock bottom, but they’re spiraling out of control with Mac Jones as their starting quarterback and Rob Gronkowski believes that Jones should bail before the team does.
Appearing on Up & Adams, the Patriots legend bluntly said that Jones should simply ask for his release if the team is not going to show him any level of respect or loyalty anymore. He then suggested that if it’s granted he should sign with the Browns now that Deshaun Watson is out for the year.
“I think Mac Jones should ultimately just go and ask for his release,” Gronkowski said. “Ask for his release and then he should go sign with the Cleveland Browns and start a new career right there.”
That second part is far less likely to happen than the first one. But the first one definitely seems like a real possibility at some point in the near future.
“Mac Jones should go ask for his release”@RobGronkowski says Bill Belichick is not going anywhere, Bailey Zappe is not even close to Jones’ level, and that things are beyond repair in New England.

The drop off that Mac Jones has experienced is almost hard to reconcile. He was one of the league’s most efficient quarterbacks as a rookie in 2021, earning a Pro Bowl selection and was a few votes shy of winning the Rookie of the Year award.
But in the years since he just hasn’t been able to improve and has instead regressed more and more.
The Patriots now seem far more likely to pick No. 1 overall than have another winning season with Jones under center.
Should Jones take Gronkowski’s advice?
