There’s been some rumors lately that the New England Patriots are shopping quarterback Mac Jones this offseason. Naturally, the issue was brought to the attention of Patriots legend Rob Gronkowski.
Appearing on Up & Adams with Kay Adams, Gronkowski was asked for his thoughts on reports that Jones could be traded. Gronkowski replied that he thinks the reports are “fake news” and that the Patriots wouldn’t move Jones in a year where they’ve already had so much turnover in their coaching staff.
“I think that was fake news. There was just too much turnover this year… if you’re shipping your quarterback that’s just too much turnover to have in one offseason… I don’t think that’s real news. But in the future, if Mac Jones doesn’t put it together with (new OC) Bill O’Brien, I could see that being a possibility after this season. But I don’t think that was true over this offseason. I just gotta stamp that as fake news,” Gronkowski said.
Fans seem to agree with Gronk’s assessment and don’t believe that the Patriots would trade their quarterback without getting one of high value in return.
Patriots trading Mac Jones?
NO WAY says GRONK.

Mac Jones was a breakout star in 2021, making the Pro Bowl while leading the Patriots to the playoffs as a rookie. But he had a sophomore slump in 2022 and the team missed the playoffs as they had one of their least productive offenses of the entire Bill Belichick era.
The Patriots overhauled the coaching staff in the 2023 offseason to fix the problem. But if they persist, it won’t be the coaches getting staffed next year (not exclusively at least).
Will Mac Jones be traded?
