The upcoming NFL season is a big one for Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.
The Patriots have missed the playoffs twice in the last three seasons, which is unusual for a franchise that made the playoffs almost every year from 2000-20. They also won six Super Bowls during that time.
Unfortunately, Tom Brady is no longer with the franchise and his absence is showing in a big way.
It’s led to Belichick’s seat getting a bit warmer and if they have another down year, there’s a chance he could get shown the door, per Ben Volin.
“If they have a losing record again; if Mac Jones has another sideways season and the offense isn’t better, the team is boring again, I definitely think Belichick is on the hot seat and there’s a chance he doesn’t come back next year. Again, I think it would have to be a disastrous kind of season, but 7-10 and Mac is screaming at the coaches again, I definitely think that could happen,” Volin said, (first transcribed by NESN).
For a long time, it’s felt like Belichick would go out on his own terms but that might change if the team’s struggles continue.
This season is set to be fairly spicy up in New England.
