Report: Patriots TE Devin Asiasi tests positive for COVID-19 ahead of training camp

July 28, 2021 by Patriots Wire Leave a Comment

New England Patriots tight end Devin Asiasi will miss the beginning of training camp after testing positive for COVID-19, according to The Boston Globe’s Jim McBride.

“Asiasi, who has been vaccinated, is not with the team and will need to quarantine,” McBride said in his report. “It’s unclear if he is experiencing any symptoms.”

ESPN’s Mike Reiss reported that Asiasi had mild symptoms and that he tested positive for the virus last week. Under the NFL’s rules, since he’s vaccinated, Asiasi can return after he has two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. Training camp begins today and it’ll be unlikely that he hits the field this week.

Some context on Patriots TE Devin Asiasi testing positive for COVID despite being vaccinated (1st reported by @globejimmcbride): Happened 5-6 days ago, mild symptoms, return on target once all guidelines are followed.

For now, Asiasi works virtually, as TE David Wells steps in.

Asiasi is in a deep tight end group that consists of Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith, Dalton Keene and Matt LaCosse.
