The New England Patriots have already met with Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels on top-30 pre-draft visits. Now, per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the team is hosting Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy on a visit.
According to Pelissero, the Patriots will be having dinner with McCarthy on Sunday and then hosting him at Gillette Stadium on an official visit on Monday.
New England is currently positioned with the No. 3 pick of the 2024 NFL draft, and they are likely weighing their options between McCarthy, Maye and Daniels, depending on who is still available on the draft board when they’re on the clock.

There have yet to be any reports of the Patriots seeking pre-draft visits with quarterback prospects likely further down the draft board, such as Bo Nix and Michael Penix Jr.
That could obviously change with the draft still more than a week away, but it does show the serious interest the team obviously has in getting a better feel for the top prospects on the board. Caleb Williams is expected to go No. 1 overall to the Chicago Bears, and the Washington Commanders will likely pick from Maye, McCarthy and Daniels.
That leaves the Patriots with a choice between the top-two quarterbacks left on the board or trading down for more draft picks.
