The New England Patriots are getting set to hire the former offensive coordinator of the Cleveland Browns.

Per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Patriots are hiring Alex Van Pelt to be their offensive coordinator. He’ll get to run their offense and is a big-time addition for Jerod Mayo.

Van Pelt was let go by Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski after their season came to an end. He had been with them since 2020.

Before that, he was the quarterbacks coach for the Cincinnati Bengals and has also been a coach for the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Buffalo Bills.

He also played in the NFL for 11 years and started 11 games. He went 3-8 in those games and finished with 2,985 yards through the air, 16 touchdowns, and 24 interceptions.

Van Pelt will now be tasked with turning around one of the worst offenses in the league.
