The football world received some tough news when former Patriots cornerback Malik Gant was found dead.

Gant died just four days before his 26th birthday. His family released a statement revealing he was found dead in Miami two weeks ago.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of our beloved family member, Malik Gant. Malik was found deceased on May 25, 2023, in Miami, Florida. We are devastated by this unimaginable loss and are grieving deeply,” the family’s statement read. “Malik was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many with his kindness, charisma, and unwavering spirit. He will be remembered as a loving son, a cherished brother, a devoted grandson, a valued teammate, and a dear friend to countless individuals. His memory will forever live on in our hearts.”

Fans were devastated by the news.

“I can’t believe this. I taught Malik for years at HD Woodson. He was such a lovely young man and worked so so hard to get to where he was. This is too much :(,” one fan said.

“Dang. Rest in Peace. Praying for his family,” a second fan responded.

“Prayers up for him and his family,” offered another.

Gant signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and had another cup of coffee with the team in 2021.
