Peyton Manning Jabbed 2 Notable Players During His Speech

August 9, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Colts QB Peyton Manning shaking hands with Tom Brady.

Peyton Manning was the man of the weekend as the former Colts and Broncos quarterback was officially immortalized in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In typical Manning fashion, the 45-year-old spent a good portion of his Hall of Fame speech cracking a few jokes. As you might have guessed, he took a couple jabs at two of his former AFC rivals: Tom Brady and Ray Lewis.

He first called out Lewis. The former Baltimore Ravens star linebacker was inducted into the Hall of Fame back in 2018. He infamously gave a speech which spanned a half an hour.

“The 2021 induction class wants to thank those previous inductees who gave long-winded acceptance speeches,” Manning said as transcribed by FOX Sports. “Forcing us to have a whopping six minutes to recap our football careers. I want to give a special thanks to my old rival Ray Lewis for being here tonight. Ray just finished giving his speech that he started in 2018.”

Six minutes isn’t enough to recap Peyton’s career. 😂

The former NFL great didn’t stop there, though.

“Next year, acceptance speeches will probably shrink to four minutes. And speaking of rivals, my good friend Tom Brady is here tonight,” Manning continued. “By the time he’s inducted in his first year of eligibility in 2035, he’ll only have time to post his acceptance speech to his Instagram account.”

We expected nothing less from the great Peyton Manning. His speeches are as good as his former on-field play. Congratulations, Peyton!

Despite their rivalry, Manning and Tom Brady share a special friendship. The two met on the gridiron plenty of times in the past. It’s only fitting they continue their rivalry off the field.
