New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, along with the rest of his rookie teammates, reported to training camp Friday.

It was difficult for them to actually do their jobs, though.

Microsoft 365 experienced widespread outages Friday, impacting the work of bankers, airlines, television networks, health systems and… yes, football players. CrowdStrike, a global cybersecurity firm that provides antivirus software to Microsoft, identified the problem and was working to resolve it early Friday.

The Patriots, according to Chad Graff of The Athletic, lean on Microsoft for much of their digital work and have been impacted by the outage.

“It turns out that because the endpoints have crashed — the Blue Screen of Death — they cannot be updated remotely and the problem must be solved manually, endpoint by endpoint,” CyberArk chief information officer Omer Grossman told ABC News. “This is expected to be a process that will take days.”

The NFL doesn’t permit on-field work during the first phase of training camp, so Friday was meant to be a classroom day for the rookies. New England, without the technology for individual players to watch film, now has to figure things out.

Jerod Mayo might want to break out the magic markers.
