Patriots training camp: Day 5 schedule, players to watch, and more

The Patriots will continue their 2025 training camp on Monday.

Coming off the first off day of this year’s training camp, the New England Patriots are set to return with a bang. It’s the first day of full pads in Foxborough, meaning a serious uptick in both physicality and competition.

Here is everything else you need to know about the session.

Schedule

The Patriots’ fifth training camp session will again take place on the practice fields behind Gillette Stadium. As are most other sessions, it is open to the general public at no cost.

  • 9:15 a.m. ET: Gates open
  • 10:15 a.m. ET: Mike Vrabel press conference
  • 10:30 a.m. ET: Practice
  • ca. 12 p.m. ET: Player availability (Kayshon Boutte, DeMario Douglas, Jack Gibbens, Jaylinn Hawkins, Hunter Henry, Khyiris Tonga)

As always, the schedule is tentative and subject to change. For more information, please visit our Pats Pulpit Training Camp Guide.

Story of the day

With full pads being introduced to the mix, we are going to keep a close eye out for everything associated with them. The 1-on-1 blocking battles between offensive and defensive linemen; how receivers and cornerbacks fare in press-man coverage; the pass rush in full team drills; injuries — you name it. Monday will be intense.

Injuries to monitor

NFI: S Josh Minkins

PUP: WR Mack Hollins, TE Austin Hooper, OT Vederian Lowe

DNP: WR Ja’Lynn Polk

Limited: CB Carlton Davis III

Injured: LB Jahlani Tavai

The Patriots’ list of absentees has seen no changes over the last few days, but two new players joined the mix. First, Carlton Davis was limited again — a means of reducing his exposure while he is trying to come back from injury. Additionally, Jahlani Tavai left Saturday’s session with an apparent injury and did not return; he had started training camp on the non-football list because of a calf issue.

Players to watch

RB TreVeyon Henderson: Due to the absence of full pads, the running game has not played a major role in the Patriots’ camp so far. This is set to change on Monday, and with it the exposure the team’s running backs are going to get. Top on our list of players to keep an eye on is second-round rookie TreVeyon Henderson, whose speed in the passing game was already enticing.

WR Stefon Diggs: The Patriots’ high-profile free agency signing has looked good so far in his first extended practice action since tearing his ACL last October. The upcoming uptick in physicality, however, will be the next big challenge in his recovery and will help either confirm or reset the early optimism.

OT Will Campbell and Morgan Moses: Campbell’s position as the Patriots’ starting left tackle is in no danger, but the first-round rookie will still need to be at his best starting on Monday. His battles with the defensive line, most prominently Keion White, were already quite entertaining — with pads coming on, they will be taken to the next level. It will be a first serious test for the first-round draft pick, just like it will be for his veteran counterpart, Morgan Moses, albeit for different reasons.

OL Jared Wilson, G Cole Strange and C Garrett Bradbury: Just like Will Campbell, Jared Wilson has not yet had a taste of NFL physicality. On Monday, that will change, and it will show whether or not he can realistically compete with veterans Cole Strange and Garrett Bradbury for a starting role at either left guard or center in the near future. Likewise, the two veterans and their performances will also be worth assessing.

ED Anfernee Jennings: A starter along the defensive edge for most of the last two seasons, Jennings has mostly been behind Harold Landry and Keion White so far in camp. This might change on Monday, though: with the running game getting added to the mix at a much more competitive rate than previously, Jennings should be in a position to showcase his value to the team as a plus run defender.
