On Thursday afternoon the New England Patriots made an addition to the quarterback room.

Don’t worry Mac Jones truthers, his job isn’t in trouble – at least not yet. The team added a veteran quarterback who is capable, but isn’t a starting quality player.

The team added former Penn State star Trace McSorley. After seeing some time with the Arizona Cardinals during the 2022 season, he’ll get the opportunity to play for a celebrated franchise.

“The Patriots have signed QB Trace McSorley,” ESPN’s Field Yates said.

According to a fellow ESPN reporter, the Patriots had been looking to add a mobile quarterback for most of the offseason.

“It’s a one-year deal for McSorley. Patriots had been looking for a mobile third QB throughout free agency,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said.

McSorley isn’t going to threaten Mac Jones for the starting job, but he’ll provide plenty of different looks as the Patriots prepare for the season.
