The Patriots’ quarterback room is about to change for the second time in the past week.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the Patriots are signing Ian Book to their practice squad.
Book had a free-agent workout with the Patriots earlier this week. He also had a workout with the 49ers.
The Patriots will be Book’s third team since entering the league in 2021. The Notre Dame product started his NFL career with the Saints before joining the Eagles in 2022.
In one career start with the Saints, Book completed 12-of-20 pass attempts for 135 yards with two interceptions.

At the collegiate level, Book was a standout for Notre Dame. He threw for 8,948 yards and 72 touchdowns from 2017-2020.
Book will join a quarterback room in New England that currently features Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe.
Former Ole Miss star Matt Corral was also part of the Patriots’ quarterback room heading into Week 1. However, he was recently placed on the exempt/left squad list.
