The New England Patriots have already overhauled their coaching staff for the 2023 NFL season and have been hard at work on getting their roster fixed too. They’re now set to bring back one of their top defensive backs from last season.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Patriots are re-signing cornerback Jalen Mills on a one-year deal worth up to $6.1 million. The deal was made by superagent Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey.
The former Philadelphia Eagles star joined the Patriots on a four-year, $24 million contract in 2021, but was cut after just two seasons. Now it appears the two have found a comfortable middle ground.
Mills has started 26 games for the Patriots over the last two years. This past season he was tied for fourth on the team in interceptions with two of them to go with five passes defended, which ranked seventh.

Jalen Mills was a seventh-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2016 NFL Draft and was their starting cornerback during their 2017 Super Bowl championship run. That year he had a career-high 14 passes defended along with three interceptions, including five more passes defended in the playoffs.
But injuries cost Mills 16 games between 2018 and 2020 and the team let him walk in the 2021 offseason.
Will Jalen Mills have a bounceback season for the Patriots in 2023?
