Mandatory minicamp kicked off Monday in Foxborough.

Mandatory minicamp got underway with an additional two attendees in Foxborough.

The New England Patriots had guard Marcus Wehr and linebacker Wesley Steiner in for tryouts on Monday, according to a report from Doug Kyed of the Boston Herald.

Both free agents went undrafted in April.

Wehr, 24, converted from the defensive line to the offensive line while at Montana State, where he started his final 35 appearances. After earning first-team All-Big Sky honors at right tackle in 2023, the 6-foot-2, 298-pound Billings native earned first-team All-Big Sky honors at right guard in 2024. A back-to-back FCS first-team All-American, Wehr posted a 93.5 Pro Football Focus grade last fall. He participated in the East-West Shrine Bowl and went to rookie minicamp with the Seattle Seahawks on a tryout basis.

Steiner, 23, spent four seasons at Auburn before transferring to Washington State in 2024. The 6-foot-1, 242-pound linebacker’s collegiate run included 60 games, plus seven starts on the defensive side. During his lone year with the Cougars, Steiner had a hand in one stop for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery as well as five tackles on special teams. He signed with the Las Vegas Raiders after participating in rookie minicamp, yet was waived later on in May.

The Patriots stand with a roster of 91 when accounting for defensive lineman Wilfried Pene’s exemption through the NFL’s International Player Pathway.

Following a schedule change, the final practice of mandatory minicamp is set for Tuesday, but players will remain at Gillette Stadium through Wednesday.
