Things have gone from bad to worse for Patriots quarterback Mac Jones.
According to Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald, at least 80 percent of the Patriots’ locker room is done with Jones.
Even though Jones has lost support from his teammates, the Patriots have not yet benched him on a permanent basis. Of course, they could go that route once they return from their bye week.
From Callahan’s report:
One team source estimated that at least 80% of the Patriots’ locker room is out on Jones. Another said the “vast majority” of players are done with him. Both said the lack of belief spreads to both sides of the ball, with a shared sense that Jones’ worst mistakes negate the best efforts of his teammates.
Whether Mac Jones loses the starting job or not, he’s already lost 1 thing: the locker room.
One team source said the locker room is 80-20 out on Mac. Another said the vast majority of players are done with him.

Jones is completing 65.4 percent of his passes this season for 2,031 yards with 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His inability to take care of the football has become a huge problem.
The Patriots could, in theory, bench Jones for Bailey Zappe. However, there’s no guarantee that would jumpstart the offense.
Suffice to say, the Patriots will be in the market for a new quarterback this offseason.
