On Wednesday, the New England Patriots agreed to a new deal with veteran wide receiver DeVante Parker — extending him through the 2025 season.
The Patriots are still hoping to land star wideout DeAndre Hopkins in free agency this offseason, and this new deal for Parker reportedly does not hinder the push to sign D-Hop.
The Pats hosted Hopkins for a multi-day visit in Foxborough earlier this month, and the New England squad is currently listed as the odds favorite to add the 31-year-old pass catcher before the 2023 season.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the team still has optimism that they can get a deal done. The Pats reportedly won’t sign Hopkins until just before training camp kicks off in late July.
The Patriots have JuJu Smith-Schuster, Tyquan Thornton and Parker on their wide receiver depth chart, but the addition of D-Hop could provide an excellent No. 1 wideout option for Mac Jones this coming season.
