Patriots Fans Will Love This Winning Quote From Drake Maye

October 16, 2024 by NESN

Drake Maye wants to be the ultimate competitor and prides himself on that attribute as he begins his career with the New England Patriots.

Maye played well for stretches of his starting debut for the Patriots, tossing three touchdowns along with three turnovers in a 41-21 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 6. The Patriots aren’t ready to compete yet, but losses are going to stick with Maye and drive his development.

Maye’s response to adversity should motivate and encourage the Patriots.

“Most if my friends and family after a loss, they’ll still worry more about the loss than kind of encouraging plays,” Maye told reporters, per team-provided transcript. “That’s kind of the people I’m around. We care about winning. Just hate losing. That’s the big thing. I think there’s some good things to take away from today, and I think back with Coach Mayo, we’ve got to play complementary football, and we haven’t done that.”

Losses could stack up this season which Maye will have to deal with to the best of his ability. If nothing else, the Patriots quarterback is ready to win. He just needs the rest of the talent around him to reach that level.

Maye searches for his first NFL on Sunday when the Patriots battle the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 7 in London.
