Don’t count Bill Burr among New England Patriots fans ready to move on from Bill Belichick.
The Rich Keefe Show executive producer Stiz Grimey asked the comedian and Massachusetts native about growing calls to fire Belichick. Burr told them to “relax” and berated anyone who doesn’t appreciate the coach’s achievements.
“He has eight rings. He has one more than [Tom] Brady. He shut down John Elway. I’m done talking about this,” Burr said before continuing his rant. “The run and gun. Greatest Show on Turf. Won three [Super Bowls] with a sixth-round draft pick, and then everybody then was calling Brady a systems quarterback. And then they win three more and all of a sudden Brady knows everything and Belichick doesn’t know anything.”

Belichick won two championships as the New York Giants defensive coordinator before winning six more alongside Brady as New England’s head coach.
Burr added that Belichick didn’t receive enough credit for Malcolm Butler’s end-zone interception to defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX because fans only blame Seattle for not running the ball.
“Everybody says that Pete Carroll screwed up rather than that was an unbelievable coaching job by Bill Belichick and his crew to have that defense ready for that play,” Burr said.
The Patriots haven’t suffered double-digit losses in a single season since Belichick’s first year in 2000, but that could change this year. New England has started 2-7 with the AFC’s worst scoring margin (-93).
Burr isn’t the only fan who thinks Belichick’s resume should afford him more job security. However, The Boston Globe‘s Ben Volin wrote that Robert Kraft could consider replacing the legendary coach if New England loses to the Indianapolis Colts in Germany this Sunday.
On the other hand, Burr didn’t defend Mac Jones’ performance as passionately. When asked for his thoughts about the quarterback, Burr told Grimey that Jones is “better looking than you.”
