The New England Patriots’ reunion with J.C. Jackson has not gone as planned so far.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, the veteran cornerback is not making the trip to Germany this weekend for New England’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
“With questions about his reliability, the decision was made to have him stay home, get through the bye and return in a better place,” Rapoport wrote.
“Needless to say, Jackson’s return to the #Patriots has not gone as both sides had hoped. We’ll see if it’s salvageable once the team returns from Germany,” Garafolo added.

The Patriots traded for Jackson late last month, acquiring him in a pick swap with the Los Angeles Chargers, who had signed the Pro Bowl defensive back to a five-year, $82.5 million free agent deal in March 2022.
After trading Jackson, Chargers general manager Tom Telesco reportedly admitted to his team that signing 27-year-old cover man was “a mistake” in hindsight.
Back with the team he starred for from 2018-21, Jackson has appeared in five games for the Patriots thus far this season, logging 14 tackles and three passes defensed.
