The J.C. Jackson trade is now official.
The New England Patriots announced Thursday that they have reacquired Jackson from the Los Angeles Chargers in exchange for a reported swap of 2025 draft picks.
New England sent its 2025 sixth-round pick to the Chargers in exchange for the veteran cornerback and a 2025 seventh-round selection.

Jackson spent four seasons with the Patriots from 2018-21 after cracking the roster as an undrafted free agent. He won a Super Bowl as a rookie and made the Pro Bowl in 2021 while also earning second-team All-Pro honors.
Jackson, who owns 26 career interceptions in 69 games, signed a five-year, $82.5 million free agent contract with the Chargers in 2022, but appeared in only five games last season due to injury. He started LA’s first two games this fall but was later benched, making him expendable.
New England is expected to be without rookie standout cornerback Christian Gonzalez for the rest of the season, and his injury served as the impetus for trading for Jackson. Gonzalez reportedly suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder during last week’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys.
