On Wednesday, Christian Barmore became New England’s eighth draft pick to sign.

The final unsigned selection from the 2021 New England Patriots draft class has since agreed to terms.

Former Alabama defensive tackle Christian Barmore penned his four-year, $8.5 million rookie contract on Wednesday, as agent Nicole Lynn of Klutch Sports announced via Twitter.

ESPN’s Mike Reiss had reported Wednesday morning that both sides “were progressing towards finalizing a contract.” Barmore, whose deal carries a signing bonus north of $3.5 million, now joins the books alongside quarterback Mac Jones, outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins, running back Rhamondre Stevenson, inside linebacker Cameron McGrone, safety Joshuah Bledsoe, offensive tackle William Sherman and wide receiver Tre Nixon.

The Patriots traded up to No. 38 overall in the second round of April’s draft to select Barmore, who led the Crimson Tide in sacks and forced fumbles as a redshirt sophomore in 2020.

The 21-year-old’s career in Tuscaloosa spanned 24 games and six starts, and saw Barmore total 15.5 tackles for loss to go with 10 sacks, three forced fumbles and five batted passes. First-team All-SEC and second-team All-American recognition arrived along the way to being named the defensive MVP of January’s national title victory over Ohio State.

Patriots rookies reported to Gillette Stadium on Tuesday. The first practice of training camp is set for July 28.
