The Toledo product could come off the board as early as Day 2 of the draft.
The New England Patriots’ list of pre-draft visits continues to grow, with yet another defensive lineman added to the mix.
Darius Alexander, a potential Day 2 pick out of Toledo, was in town recently. The 24-year-old told The Draft Network about his experience on the scouting trail, revealing that his trip to New England was one of several he has taken so far.
“I had like 11-12 visits in total. I visited Arizona, Cincinnati, Tennessee, New York [Jets], Las Vegas, Dallas, New England, and San Francisco,” Alexander said.
“I have Tampa Bay, the [Giants], and Pittsburgh left. I believe I have one or two others. I’ve had a fair share of visits throughout this process. I’ve really enjoyed it. I’m going in and talking to these coaches, owners, and general managers. I’m picking their brains and asking questions about the process.”
Standing at just under 6-foot-4 and 305 pounds, Alexander offers several intriguing attributes between his size, natural movement skills and the violence inherent in his game. While his production in 58 career games is nothing to write home about — 9 sacks among 101 combined quarterback pressures — his flashes are promising.
The Patriots showing interest in him makes sense considering his fit as an upfield penetrator from anywhere along the defensive line. He has therefore now become the team’s 17th confirmed 30 visit, as well as the third interior defensive lineman visiting Gillette Stadium.
Alongside Alexander, New England already invited Mason Graham (Michigan) and Joshua Farmer (Florida State).
