Offensive tackle Yasir Durant reverts to Patriots’ injured reserve

The 2021 trade acquisition returned on a one-year deal in June.

One New England Patriots transaction has led to another for Yasir Durant.

The offensive tackle reverted to the organization’s injured reserve on Thursday after clearing waivers, according to the NFL transaction wire.

Barring an injury settlement at a later date, the reversion ends Durant’s 2025 season before the calendar reaches August. The 27-year-old had been waived with the injury designation amid a series of moves the afternoon prior. He no longer counts against an active roster of 91.

Durant, listed at 6-foot-7, 330 pounds, returned to the Patriots on a one-year contract heading into training camp in June. He did so after turning in an All-UFL campaign at left tackle for the champion DC Defenders. It marked his second spring season. The first got underway at left guard before kicking out as the blindside protector.

The product of Arizona Western and Missouri originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2020. The following preseason, Durant was acquired in Foxborough via trade and went on to appear in seven games, starting one at right tackle. After being waived at the league’s 53-man roster deadline in 2022, he made subsequent stops with the New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos into 2023.

Durant’s NFL career has spanned 19 games with 188 snaps on offense and 85 snaps on special teams.

The Patriots move forward with two players on injured reserve after rookie fullback Brock Lampe became a corresponding move earlier in the week.
