It appears Matt Patricia will be joining the Philadelphia Eagles’ coaching staff after all.
On Thursday afternoon, there was some confusion over whether or not the Eagles were hiring Patricia, 48, who has spent the last two years as an assistant coach in New England after a failed stint as the head man in Detroit.
Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni was asked by reporters if he was bringing Patricia aboard, responding that it’s “trending in that direction.”
“Obviously his resume speaks for itself. He gives you a great mind in there that’s done it at the highest level; gives me another former head coach I can bounce ideas off,” Sirianni said of Patricia.

Patricia broke in with the Patriots in 2004 as an offensive assistant before eventually transitioning over to the defensive side of the ball.
He served as New England’s defensive coordinator from 2012-17, winning two Super Bowl titles in that span. From there, Patricia was hired by the Detroit Lions to be their head coach.
He failed massively in the Motor City, going 13-29-1 in two-plus seasons before being let do in November 2020.
